The Honor Orchestra at the 2009 Rocky Mountain Summer Music Camp will be under the direction of Sandra Dackow, Music Director of the Hershey Symphony Orchestra in Pennsylvania (please see bio). The Gold Orchestra, designed for younger players, will be under the direction of Steve McNeal, Assistant Conductor of the Colorado State University orchestra. There are many opportunities for string players to receive personalized instruction and challenging repertoire, while meeting new friends from around the nation. Students will audition for placement into either the Honor Orchestra or the Gold Orchestra. Students' performance will be enhanced with additional experiences, such as: String Orchestra, chamber ensembles, masterclasses, musicianship, and optional private lessons. The orchestra track is designed for students who play violin, viola, cello, or bass. Private lessons are available ($22 per 1/2 hr) and are scheduled on the first evening of camp. Auditions are held for chair placements in orchestra.
